Will Eva Gray Foote
October 10, 1927 - April 3, 2021
"Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of His saints." Ps. 116:15.
On April 3, 2021, at 11:58 pm, Will Eva passed from this life to the next at the age of 94. Will Eva was born in Tampa, Florida on October 10, 1926, to Howard and Will Eva Gray. An only child, she was known as "Lady Gray" by her family and friends. She graduated from high school in Tampa and completed one year at Florida State. A successful businessman, her father was transferred to New York City, and so Will Eva and her mother drove to New York City to join him.
Will Eva attended Barnard College, which was a few blocks from where she now lived with her parents. She graduated with a degree in English and minor in Art. She recalled going to the Paramount Theater on many occasions during this time and seeing Frank Sinatra perform on stage. She met, dated and on August 5, 1950, married Warren Clark Foote, who was obtaining a Master's degree from Columbia Univ., and would soon become a junior executive at Chase Bank prior to being activated as an ensign in the Navy and being deployed to a destroyer off the coast of Korea in 1950. After completing his duty as a reserve officer, they lived in Seattle, WA, where their 3 sons, (Warren, Mark and Wayne) were born. In 1962, they moved to Portland. Will Eva devoted her life to her Lord Jesus Christ and her family. Active for many years in Bible Study Fellowship, Will Eva served in various women's and children's ministries at Mountain Park Church, as well as the PTA and took her boys to countless Little League games, Cub Scout activites, piano practices, swim team practices every evening after school, and school related activities. After her sons completed college and embarked on their careers, Will Eva worked for Terry Dischinger Orthodontics for a number of years. Will Eva's life was full and a blessing to others. Leaving their home in Portland after more than 40 years, they moved to Wilsonville, then to Salem, and subsequently into assisted living. After 63 years of marriage, her husband preceded her in death in 2013. Will Eva is survived by her three sons (all veterans, having served in the Army, Navy, and Air Force) their wives, Susan, Laurie, and Ruth, six grandchildren, and three (soon to be four) great grandchildren, and a legacy of faith and faithfulness to God, family and to others.
A Memorial Service is to be held on June 4th (Friday) 11:00 AM, at Salem Evangelical Church, 455 Locust St NE, Salem, Oregon. Friends and acquaintances of either Will Eva or members of the Foote family are invited.
