Sharon Rae Melby

June 3, 1940 - July 9, 2020

Sharon Rae MelbySharon Rae McKimmey Melby, wife of Jerry Melby, went to the Lord on July 9, 2020.
We were married November 24, 1978 in Reno, Nevada.  We spent almost forty-two wonderful years together.  Being with Sharon was the most wonderful thing that ever happened in my life; I learned so much from her over the years that will stay with me forever.
Sharon was born in Mullen, Nebraska on June 3, 1940 to Orville McKimmey and Ione Gregg.  Sharon moved to Oregon when she was six years old. Sharon graduated from North Salem High School in 1958.
Sharon went to work for the State of Oregon after high school.  Sharon was an executive assistant and speech writer for Fred Miller, Head of the Executive Department and continued in this capacity for the Chief of Staff for Ted Kulongoski, Governor.  In all, Sharon worked for the State of Oregon for thirty-seven years (Including State Parks, Dave Talbot) and the Oregon Dept. of Transportation, Fred Klaboe.
For recreation, Sharon loved attending Oregon Football games and watching all Oregon mens and womens basketball games.  Horse racing was also a big part of her life from 1978-1991, breeding, raising and racing their thoroughbred horses.  Sharon loved Las Vegas and Reno and she spent as much time as we could at those destinations, along with going to the Oregon Coast and Depoe Bay and the Casinos on the coast.  She also, loved watching NFL Football.  She also loved her soap operas.
Sharon is survived by her husband, Jerry Melby; brother in law, Gordon Melby; sister in law, Ruth Melby Sutter; dear friends and cousins, Sandra Line, Jodi Line, Jeffery Line; Shirley Robison, sister; Jerry Gregg, Tracy Gregg, Tammy Gregg and Ty Gregg; Denny Gregg.
Sharon was the greatest person I have ever met and I had the fortune to be married to this Beautiful Woman for almost forty-two years, I will miss her dearly, she was my soul mate, I loved her dearly.
A special thank you to Connie, Donna, Jodie, Jules, Dean, Frank, Rosa, Tammy from the Marion County Clerks Office, as well as Caily, Julie, Cindy, Beth, Patti, Arly and Bill.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
