Robert "Bob" W. White

December 22, 1948 - May 24, 2020

Robert W. WhiteRobert William White (Bob White), 71, of Salem Oregon, passed away May 24th at Salem Hospital due to multiple long term health issues. Bob was born in San Francisco, California on December 22, 1948. He graduated North Salem High School in 1966 and spent most of his life in the Salem area. Following High School Bob joined the United States Army and served on the frontlines of the Vietnam War as a heavy equipment repairman. After the war he worked in truck driving and management for Valley Oil Co., Les Schwab, and Deluxe Ice Cream.
Bob is survived by his son Ryan White and daughter Heather Gonzalez. He was a proud and loving grandpa to Kolby, Caleb, and Mackenzie White and to Logan Lewallen as well as a beloved uncle.  Bob is also survived and loved by his girlfriend of many years, Patsy Dunmyre.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Dorothy White.
Anyone who had the privilege to know Bob loved him.  He was the fun-loving life of every party, a strong man with an impeccable work ethic, and someone with a deep desire to seek out joy and humor in every opportunity. Cruising and car shows were some of Bob’s greatest passions. Throughout the years he owned various hot rods and custom cars and was considered a local celebrity at any car show he attended.
Bob will be missed by all who knew him and will never be forgotten.
A private graveside service for family is planned at Lee Mission Cemetery. A celebration of life for friends and family will be planned for later this summer as social gathering restrictions lift.

I knew Bob and his family from days back in Woodburn and to a place in WA when we sang at their church. I bought an orange volkwagon and was given quick instructions how to drive a stick. Go up to Oregon City and practice on the hills. Bob teased me and made me lol alot. Im so sorry especially to Ran and Heather. Hugs and much love. Terry Hull

My condolences to all the family. May Bob rest in peace.

Best Brother in-law ever!

Bob was my friend and always treated me with respect and always made me laugh, I have known him most of my life as we went to high school together. He was just one of the good guys!

Bob was a wonderful friend of mine in high school. Although he was 2 yrs. older we spent some days at his house listening to Beatle records. His favorite was Norwegian Wood. The last time I saw him was many years ago at our grocery store in Newberg. He was working for Delux Ice Cream. I’ve thought about him over the years. He was a kind soul.

knew Bob through car show competitions, and he usually beat me. He was a great friend and will be missed. Wally

Bob's laugh and smile were freely shared with all.  I feel blessed by knowing Bob.  Rest well.'re cruising in a different part of the universe now and you will be missed.  There will be a glaring empty spot when we get together for our next cruise, but we will fill it with good memories.  See you on the other side, pal.  Patsy...our heart goes out to you and you're in our thoughts.

Attended North Salem High with Bob and he was a  fun friend. In 1968 I walked into a bowling alley at Fort Belivor, Virginia and ran into Bob and 2 other friends. They were scheduled to go to Viet Nam so our visit was short. It was so special since we were from from home and in the Army.
