Pete Threlkel Jr. died November 3, after a brief illness. He was born March 2, 1933 in McDonald, Kansas to Peter and Ila Threlkel, the family moved to Marion, Oregon in 1947. Pete attended Cascade High School graduating in 1952. He joined the US Navy and proudly served from 1953 to 1959. Pete's Naval service on-board the USS Tarawa and USS Independence took him to Europe, Brazil and Japan.
After a brief courtship, Pete married Jeanetta McGill on March 1, 1958 in Boston, Massachusetts. The couple moved back to Oregon in 1959 to buy a farm outside of Turner and raise a family. Pete loved to spend time outdoors, fishing in Oregon lakes and rivers, and enjoying fishing trips with Jeanetta during their retirement years. Pete’s dear wife Jeanetta Threlkel preceded him in death in 2007.
Pete Jr. is survived by son Jesse, son-in-law Bernie of Portland, son Peter, daughter-in-law Kristin, grandson Jacob of Salem, his brother Harlan Threlkel and sister Deanna Thomas.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, November 13th at Marion Church of God (Seventh Day), 7478 Stayton Road SE, Marion, Oregon.
