Merwin Lee Sawyer
October 9, 1946 - October 19, 2020
Merwin (Lee) Sawyer, 74, went home with Jesus on Monday, October, 19, 2020. Lee was born in Portland, Oregon to Cal Holden and Betty Vannice on October 9, 1946. And he was raised by Sam and Betty Sawyer in Halsey, Oregon. He attended Central LINN high school. After graduation in 1964, he served in the Army (Vietnam War) until 1969. Back in the United States he started work at American Can/Pope and Talbot as an engineer on the pulp side of the paper mill.
Lee and Jan (Livesay) married in 1989. They resided in Salem and Woodburn in their 31 and a half years together. His survivors include his wife, Jan; daughters Nicole, Alyce, Connie and Sissi; Stepson Tyler; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Lee’s Celebration of Life will be held this Friday, October 30, 3pm, at Mid Valley Community Church in Woodburn, Oregon. Due to COVID restrictions, seating is limited and by reservations. In lieu of flowers, Lee would like donations made to the Youth Program at his church in Yuma, Grace Bible Fellowship, 300 S 4th Ave, Yuma, AZ 85364 or www.gracebibleyuma.org.
