Matthew Cole Daily, age 51, passed away at his home Thursday, September 6, 2018. He was born February 14, 1967 in Quantico, Virginia to Kin and Jody Daily. Matt grew up in Lakeview, Oregon where he graduated from High School in 1985. As a child he loved sports, lettering in basketball, football, cross country and track. He worked as a Wildland firefighter for several summers while attending Western Oregon State College, majoring in political science and history. Matt enrolled in Army ROTC while completing his undergraduate. Upon graduation he was commissioned a 2 nd Lieutenant and served in the Army reserves until being honorably discharged in 1993. Matt went on to graduate in the top 5 of his class from Willamette University Law School and was Editor of The Law Review. Matt practiced Civil Law for over 20 years. He was an avid reader, enjoyed a variety of music, and was known for his quick wit and great dance moves. Matt loved to cook for family, neighbors and friends, always loving to entertain. He genuinely loved people from all walks of life, seeing value in everyone he met. Matt had a heart that felt the suffering of others deeply. From a tiny boy Matt knew he wanted to follow Jesus and committed his life to serving Christ.
Matt is survived by his parents, his wife Kim, his children Mitchell, Sophia, and Bishop as well as his sister Marilyn Daily-Blair (Lee Blair), as well as nieces Annah and Macey Jo and nephews Matthew and Joshua. He was loved and adored by numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.A memorial service is planned for Thursday, September 13, 2018 at Ipm at First Christian Church 685 Marion St NE Salem, Oregon.
