Marjorie Ann Tercek

March 28, 1927 - June 28, 2018

Marjorie (Margie) Ann Mackin, 91, was born to Thomas and Merle Mackin in Portland, Oregon on March 28, 1927. After graduation from Jefferson High School she enjoyed various jobs. She was a medical assistant, NW Natural gas receptionist, “soda jerk” at a diner in North Portland and most memorably, a coat check girl in New York City for a period of time. It was during this job that she once checked the hat of Frank Sinatra, a story her family loved to hear.

After marrying Carl J. Tercek on November 7, 1953, Marge became a busy homemaker, raising four children. Her heart was at home with her unrelenting devotion to her husband and children. Margie’s life was filled with following the antics of her family and living with love for her Catholic faith, as well as volunteering at St. Charles School.  After raising their children together in Northeast Portland, Marge and Carl moved to West Linn. She loved anything involving theatre, music and dance, as well as visiting the Oregon Coast. She never met a dessert she didn’t love, especially chocolate!  She lived her life with humor, quick wit and a loving and tender heart.

She passed away peacefully on June 28, 2018 in the presence of loved ones.

Margie was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Carl, her siblings, Frances, George, Bob, Joe, and beloved sister Ruth. Survivors include her children, Mary Kay Tercek, Jim Tercek, Teresa (Terry) Hancock and John (Kathy) Tercek; grandchildren, Christin (John) Hogg, David (Marlo) Tercek, Matthew (Shae) Tercek, Michelle Tercek, Colleen Tercek, Alex (Alexa) Hancock and Kelsey (Patrick) Oran; and great-grandchildren Halle Tercek, Abraham Oran, Addison Hogg and Boden Tercek.
A visitation will be at 10:00a.m., Saturday, July 7, 2018, at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, 790 A Ave, Lake Oswego, followed by a Rosary at 10:30 a.m., then a funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. Reception to follow at the church.

Interment will be at 9:30 am on Tuesday, July 10th at Willamette National Cemetery.

Marge was a compassionate and caring Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother, who lived her life in service and sacrifice to her family, whom she dearly loved. She will be deeply missed, but her family is confident she has received the ultimate promotion, resting in true peace.

Memorial donations may be made to Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church Parish Ministries , 650 A Ave, Lake Oswego, OR 97034.
