Janice Kaufman Montoya
April 11, 1938 - November 24, 2020
Janice Eileen Kaufman, the youngest of five children, was born April 11, 1938 to Clara and Jake Kaufman, in Silverton, Oregon. She graduated from Central Howell grade school and Silverton High School. She worked for many years in local canneries. Janice married Leo Montoya in 1964 and lived in Salem for over 50 years. He preceded her in death in 2015. She was also preceded in death by her brother, John Kaufman, and a sister, Dolores Bertsch. She is survived by sisters, Carolyn Simmons of Salem and Shirley Eggiman of Portland and numerous nieces and nephews.
Safeway Starbucks was Janice's favorite indulgence. She also loved American Bandstand and had an extensive collection of vinyl records. She extended love to a neighborhood cat who will now truly miss her.
The family of Janice extends sincere thanks to Winnie, Loretta and Jeff and other neighbors and friends who went above and beyond to lovingly help Janice with her needs in later life. Special thanks to Lawrence Montoya for being such a loving brother-in-law and to the entire Montoya family for accepting Janice as one of their own.
There will be no public service at this time. We will all remember Janice in our own special way.
