Jane Kinkade Kreitzberg

July 9, 1924 - November 1, 2021

Jane Kinkade KreitzbergJane Kinkade Kreitzberg died from a stroke on November 1, 2021 at the age of 97 years old. Jane was born on July 9, 1924 in Montana and moved to Salem in 1966.  She was married for 72 years to James S. Kreitzberg.  Jane was an integral part of the Salem community, from filling her driveway with geraniums for the annual Delta Gamma fundraiser, spending two years arranging a charity tennis match featuring Bjorn Borg and Mark Cox to benefit the Salem Assistance League. Jane also donated her time and skills serving on the Women’s Board of Ilahe Golf Course, and the board of the Salem Symphony, and the annual Pop’s Concert series. After her sister Lucille became blind, Jane formed a Blind Group to take members on outings and enjoy activities so she could learn more about her sister’s experience.  For years Jane decorated the altar at St. Joseph Catholic Church with flowers cut from her own garden. Jane’s final major service was years spent managing Meals on Wheels hiring cooks, organizing volunteers, and delivering meals to the housebound.  Jane’s work with Meals on Wheels resulted in her invitation to travel to Japan and present her recipe for successful management of the program.
Since Jim’s death in 2017, she has been a resident of Capitol Manor. However, she continued to enjoy her summer trips to Placid Lake Montana where she kayaked and watched the wildlife.
Jane is survived by her six children, John, Susan, Jeff, Fred, Anthony and Cynthia, twelve grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren to date.
A Memorial Mass will be Saturday, Dec. 4th at 10:00am at St Joseph Catholic Church. A reception will follow at the church.
Please make a donation in Jane’s name to your favorite charity in lieu of flowers.

I spent some lovely days with Jane at Placid Lake. We kayaked, walked, talked, read,, dined and shared cocktails. On one of our walks Jane took a beautiful photo that won a photo contest in Salem. She was a unique, interesting and fun lady.. God speed Jane.
