Florence E Kietzmann

1924 - March 8, 2018

Florence E. Kietzmann passed from this life into an eternal presence with her Lord Jesus Christ on Thursday, March 8, 2018 at the age of 93.  She was residing at Country Meadows Village in Woodburn, Oregon but was previously a long term resident from Salem, Oregon.
Florence was born in 1924 to Ibert and Hulda Iverson in Salem, South Dakota and was the third of four sisters.  Pauline the eldest, Amy, Florence and Clara.  It was while growing up with her sisters that she developed her love of the Lord as well as the love of music.
The four Iverson sisters were known for their beautiful singing in four part harmony.  They sang at church regularly and even made a record.  During High School, Florence also sang with several choirs and played the clarinet in the band.  Music continued to be a great passion throughout her life and she especially enjoyed all the musical events at Country Meadows Village where she had lived for the past 15 years.
In 1952 she married Donald Kietzmann.  Don and Florence were introduced to each other by mutual friends and first courted through letters written during the Korean War.  After 56 years of marriage, Don passed away in 2008.  Don and Florence lived in several places during their time together including South Dakota, Colorado and Illinois. They were both adventurers at heart and one year they moved 12 times. In 1971 Don decided a new direction was needed and he moved his family west to Oregon.  Salem, Oregon became their new home.
Florence held various occupations over the years including teaching in a one room school house, managing a hotel and bookkeeping/accounting.  Prior to retirement in 1986, she worked for the Oregon State Treasury Office for 12 years. After retirement, Don and Florence enjoyed camping, snow-birding and spending extra time with their children and grandchildren.
Family and faith were always very important to Florence.  She was the quiet but strong pillar and support system of the family, sustained by the grace of God through all things both the difficulties and the triumphs. Florence enjoyed her favorite activities of crocheting, putting together puzzles, playing board games and reading good books. She was a loving and much-loved mother, grandmother and friend, whose steadfast strength and deep concern for others will be sorely missed.  Florence lived a long and rich life.
She is survived by a sister Clara Welbon of Salem, SD, a son, Duane Cherri; a daughter, Donna Jim; and three grandsons, Scott, Brian and Jeff.
A Memorial service is scheduled at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 4th at Country Meadows Village, 155 S. Evergreen Rd., Woodburn, OR, 97071.
