Mary Lynn Gogerty Seiber

July 29, 1954 - August 20, 2018

Mary Lynn Gogerty Seiber, 64, of Salem Oregon, passed away on Monday August 20, 2018.  She was born in San Francisco California on July 29, 1954 and was the oldest daughter of wonderful parents William R. Gogerty and Erby C. Gogerty.  Mary grew up in San Pablo California and attended De Anza High School in El Sobrante.  She also attended Contra Costa College where she earned her nursing degree and became a Licensed Vocational Nurse.

Mary was blessed to have a large and loving family.  She had eight siblings.  She is preceded in death by her oldest brother Chester Guillory, and is survived by Phillip Goudeaux, Debbie Whitehores, Darlene Walker, Willim R. Gogerty II and Julia Lang. Mary met and married Jack Meletiou (1949-2005) in July of 1971.  She had three of her six children with Jack; Deanna Melgoza, Shalena Candler-Desmond and Jacky Meletiou-Waters.  Mary later married Steve Sebastian in 1987, with whom she had her only son Anthony Sebastian.  In 1995, Mary met and married Allen Seiber, her faithful partner and friend, and together they had two daughters; Sharlotte Seiber and Sarah Seiber.  With her marriage to Allen, Mary was given a loving step daughter, Megan Seiber.  Mary was also blessed to be the grandmother of thirteen, great grandmother of two, and aunt/great aunt, mother-in-law, sister-in-law, cousin and dear friend to many.

Mary’s life was full of movement and never lacking of excitement.  Mary was never one to miss a good song as she loved music and especially loved to dance.  Anyone who knew Mary also knows of her feisty personality and her fighting spirit.  Even in her last days, Mary remained true to ways; ready to engage in a good argument, straighten out anyone who needed it or stop everything to snap her fingers to a good beat.   If you could get her to laugh, she loved you for it. She would laugh with her whole body and fill the room with so much life. Mary was infamously known to never say goodbye at the end of a phone call and she would always proclaim that she loved you more.  In the words of Mary and the only way she would have it, she would want to say, “Take care of yourselves, I Love you, love you, love you more, see ya.”

A viewing service will be held at Virgil T. Golden Funeral Service & Oakleaf Crematory, 605 Commercial St SE, Salem, OR 97301 at 1:00pm on Saturday the 25th of August, with a celebration of life to follow at 4:00pm at Cascades Gateway City Park, 2100 Turner Rd SE, Salem Oregon. All are welcomed!

My beautiful strong sister, she will be missed, her beautiful smile, quick wit but most of all her generous love. Love and miss you my sister.

I loved my aunt Mary growing up she was always such a strong woman to me because life hasnt been too easy for her but she always had a smile on her face no matter what .  She was always there for me when I needed her and I never got a chance to tell her what she meant to me and how much I loved her. She was the best Aunt and Godmother I could have ever ask for, there will always be a empty spot in my heart for her.
