Brittany L. Olafson
July 25, 1990 - June 13, 2018
Brittany Lynn Olafson, 27, returned to her heavenly home June 13th, 2018 after enduring a long and strenuous battle with epilepsy. Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in God supported her in her struggle.
Brittany was born July 25, 1990, along with her twin sister Michelle in Eugene, Oregon. Brittany grew up in Springfield, Oregon, attending Thurston High School until 2005. She then moved to Salem, Oregon where she graduated from North Salem High School in 2008.
While at North Salem, she learned of the Junior Reserves Officer's Training Corps, a program offered to high schools that teaches students, (Cadets) character education, student achievement, wellness, leadership and diversity. As a senior, in a new school with no drill experience she fearlessly tried out and made the very first Lady Viking Team! Competing in meets all season long. She dreamed of joining the military to serve her country. However, she battled a rare and severe form of epilepsy. Her dream was not possible. She would later go on to receive her Veterinary Assistant Certificate.
Brittany was a fighter, strong and courageous. She had a smile that could light up the sky and a witty sense of humor. The warmest of hearts, she cherished the time spent with her family and friends. She loved to ride horses, swim, camp, draw and paint.
Brittany will be forever loved and remembered by her parents Sheri Marchand and John Olafson, twin sister Michelle Olafson, aunt Margaret and uncle Hugh Boyd, step-father Robert Williamson, aunt Julie and uncle James McCloud, uncle Blake Marchand, cousins Kaily and Brandon McCloud, 3 step brothers, 3 step sisters and her kitty cat Applejack....extended family and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Shirley and Morris Olafson and Janet Marchand.
Funeral services will be held at Virgil T. Golden Funeral Services in Salem, Oregon on July 14, 2018 at 2pm.
Memorial donations in Brittany’s name may be made to End Choices - Oregon at www.endchoices.com to aid in the cause to help people peacefully end their lives if faced with unbearable suffering.
