Phyllis Gray Hann

May 28, 1920 - June 9, 2018


Phyllis was born in Albany, Oregon to Verna M. Gray and George S. Gray. She grew up in Tillamook, Oregon where she graduated from Tillamook High School. Phyllis went to college at Oregon State College. She graduated with a degree in home economics. She was a member of Alpha Xi Delta sorority. Her first job was in Salem with Keep Oregon Green. She married John H. (Jack) Hann who predeceased her in 1996. They were married for more than 50 years. She leaves two daughters, Sharon Weisner (Cy) and Sandi Young (Gene), four grandchildren and one great granddaughter. Phyllis was active throughout her life. She was President of the Oregon State University Alumni Association and was a member of the Oregon State University Foundation Board. She spent many years working as a secretary and legislative assistant for a number of members of the Oregon Legislature. She was active in St. Anne’s Guild at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. She was a Life Master of duplicate bridge and until recently played several times a week at the Keizer Senior Center. Phyllis spent many hours volunteering whenever and wherever help was needed. She enjoyed attending Oregon State University football and basketball games and OSU alumni events. Phyllis also enjoyed reading, weaving and crafting. Traveling was also a passion of hers and she and Jack took many trips to faraway places. She especially enjoyed spending time in Hawaii where she played bridge, lunched with friends and basked in the sun.  A memorial service will be held at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church chapel on Saturday, June 16, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to Oregon State University Foundation or St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. Virgil T. Golden Funeral Service is assisting the family.
