Mary Elizabeth (Fredricks) Lofsted

January 9, 1956 - October 29, 2015

Mary Elizabeth (Fredricks) Lofsted passed away October 29th at home in Salem, Oregon after a hard fought battle with cancer. Mary was born January 1956 in Yakima, Washington to Ruth and John Fredricks. She attended St. Paul's Elementary School and graduated from Davis High School.  After attending CWU she moved to Oregon and worked for the State of Oregon's Mental Health Division for 30 years. Mary's career was always about helping people.
In 1983 Mary married Carl Lofsted and with his son, Jeff, they made a family.  Together they had a wonderful life that was cut short in 2002 with Carl's passing. In 2005 Mary and Alan Samarin became partners in love. The extended family included Alan’s children: Alex & Sharla Samarin of Bend; Peter & Amy Samarin and their 2 children Olivia & Andon of Medford; Nick Samarin & Becki Meier of Austin, TX; and Tessa & Nate Baston of Portland.
Mary's joy in life was her family, friends, and especially her grandchild, Peyton. Mary was predeceased by her parents, John and Ruth, brothers John and Michael, her husband Carl Lofsted, and sister-in-law Barbara Langer. She is survived by her step-son Jeff and granddaughter Peyton Lofsted; niece Sarah & her husband Josh Mosley & their beautiful daughter Sydney of Bend, and dear friend Laura Traeger of Mt. Angel. The family thanks Kaesi Cook & Sherrie Lafever for all the kind things they did for Mary.
No services are planned at this time. A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date. Assisting the family is Virgil T. Golden Funeral Service.

May the road rise to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back,
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
May the rains fall soft upon your fields,
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.
May God Bless Her and Let Her Be at Peace
