Luis Trevino Jr.

October 26, 1948 - May 12, 2018

     It is with great sadness that we the family of Luis “Louie” Trevino Jr. announces his passing on Saturday, May 12, 2018. Born in Robstown, Texas, on October 26, 1948, Louie and his family eventually moved out west and for the past 57 years, has made Oregon, his home.
     Louie enlisted in the United States Army in 1967 and proudly served in the Vietnam War. Shortly after returning from Vietnam, Louie married the love of his life, Irma, in January 1971.
Louie started his career with the United States Postal Service in November 1971 and went on to become a USPS Postmaster, before retiring after 34 years of service. Louie was an active member of the Knights of Columbus and Veterans of Foreign Wars Salem Chapters. His hobbies included fishing, playing the accordion, working out in his ship on his classic cars, traveling, watching the Dallas Cowboys and absolutely loved spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. Community service and involvement in the church was important to Louie. He also enjoyed working side by side with his fellow Knights and Veterans, working on parade floats for the annual Veterans Day Parade and frying fish for the Knights of Columbus fundraising dinners.
     Louie is survived by his wife Irma, daughters Kristina, Elisa Brett Evert, Elena and son Luis Alejandro. Grandchildren Jimmy, Jordan, Kash, Bryant and Isabel, his mother Victoria, 5 siblings and preceded in death by his father Luis Sr. and brother Ricardo Trevino.
Louie was and will always remain our hero and will be missed immensely.
     Viewing will take place on Sunday, May 20th at Virgil T. Golden Funeral Service from 4 pm to 6 pm with Rosary immediately following.  Services will take place on Monday, May 21st at 10:00am at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church 721 Chemeketa St NE Salem, Oregon, with burial at City View Cemetery 390 Hoyt St. S., Salem immediately following.
