We are so unbelievably sorry about this tragedy. Josh has been a good friend of Pat's since high school, so we have followed his life. We were stunned when we heard the news.
I got to know Josh through his attendance at the RCIA program at Queen of Peace Parish. Josh was an inquirer wanting to know about the practices and beliefs of the Catholic Church so he could better know his fiancé, who later become his wife.
I had Josh in a number of my discussion groups. While he could be a reserved participant, what I noted is how he would open up much more when he spoke of his fiancé. Then I particularly noted how Josh “beamed” when he came back to the RCIA class after having married. Josh loved you Katie. God loved Josh and now Josh is in the Lord’s presence. During this difficult time, remember God loves you as He loves Josh.
Rest In Peace Josh
I had the honor of having Josh as a student in my classes at Regis High School. He was kind, respectful, intelligent, and had a witty sense of humor. I remember fondly all the fun we had on the retreats and other school activities. Our family sends our condolences and will pray for Josh and his family.
I remember Josh well from his track and cross country days at Regis. His work ethic and good humor were much appreciated. He is missed.
I served with Josh on the Stennis. He was exactly as described above. He was senior to me when I got there and was always willing to help you figure out something you didn't understand, while also making you feel dumb for not knowing it(in a funny way). He was never afraid to voice his opinion or say when he thought something could be done better, in the most respectful way he could muster Haha. He helped make life on the ship better and his presence was noticeably absent when he left. My condolences to the family he left behind. I recently lost my father and have been going to a support group called "grief share", I highly recommend it. I would have not been able to function in day-to-day life without it. I will remember him and Phil Thomas every time I pray.
