Dorothy Ann Schmidt, "nee Watson"

August 25, 1927 - February 25, 2018

Dorothy Ann Watson was born in Clinton, Missouri on August 25, 1927 to John and Goldie Watson. She left us on February 25, 2018 after a short illness caused by lung cancer.

She grew up in rural Missouri and moved to St. Louis to attend nursing school, from which she graduated in 1948.  It was here that she met Bob Schmidt who became her husband and the father of her children: Eden, Ford and Carla.

Dorothy, Bob and Eden moved to California in 1953 and they settled in Rancho Cucamonga. After 45 years in California, she and Bob moved to Vancouver, Washington in 1998. They did have one last move to make and that was to Salem, Oregon in 2014.

Dorothy loved animals, especially cats, playing along with Jeopardy, and a glass of wine, or a cocktail, with friends and family.

She is survived by her husband, Bob, her daughters Eden Kalman (George Chieffet), Carla Swain (Paul Swain) and her son Ford Schmidt (Galin Brown). She also was the proud grandmother to Neal and Bryn Swain and Harper and Nathaniel Schmidt.

Dorothy will always be greatly missed. While her physical self is gone, her presence lives on in our happy memories of her.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating in her memory to Salem Friends of Felines. Services will be a private celebration of life for friends and family. Assisting the family is Virgil T. Golden Funeral Service.
