Dennis Bjarnson

September 5, 1944 - February 14, 2018

Dennis Alan Bjarnson, 73, passed away peacefully in his home on February 14, 2018 after a short battle with brain cancer.  He was born on September 5, 1944 to Margus  and Antonette Bjarnson in Oakland, California.  Dennis attended Oakland Public Schools and graduated from Armstrong College in Berkeley.
Dennis started his long career with IBM in 1966 where he made lifelong friends.  From administration he moved to management followed by Systems Engineering  in 1984.  He worked primarily in the San Francisco Bay Area and moved to Salem in 1987.  Dennis retired in 1997 and started his own home remodeling and repair company.  He enjoyed tiling and getting to know his many clients over the years.  His final career move was to the Oregon Military Department working in asset control.
Dennis enjoyed traveling especially to Italy or to visit “daughters” in The Netherlands and Germany.  Cars were always his passion in life.  From his first 1955 VW Bug to his bright orange  Dodge Charger with a Hemi, he loved car shows, car talk, and touring Ferrari, Lamborghini, Pagani, and Audi factories.    He always had time to entertain friends with a grilled steak, lasagna or mushroom risotto and a game of Progressive Rummy.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Deanna Bocksnick, and son Todd Bjarnson.  He is survived by his wife Vicki Bjarnson, son Chris Bjarnson, brother Gary Bjarnson, and 4 grandchildren.
Dennis will always be remembered for his sense of humor, quick wit, kindness to others and love of his family and friends.  He was always there to lend a hand or troubleshoot a computer problem.  He was thankful for each day and believed in paying it forward with small acts of kindness or a polite gesture.
A celebration of life service will be held at Belcrest Memorial Park 1295 Browning Avenue S, Salem, Oregon at 11 a.m. on March 2, 2018 followed by a reception at Willamette Valley Vineyards 8800 Enchanted Way SE, Turner, Oregon.
In lieu of flowers, please consider giving to the Marion-Polk Food Share at 1660 Salem Industrial Drive NE, Salem, Oregon 97301.
