Frank Joseph Papenfus

May 24, 1933 - January 19, 2018


Salem – Frank was born on the Roberts Ranch, just south of Salem, during the years his father was foreman for the large organization and attended Salem Schools. He enlisted in the Army and served in Korea during the Korean Conflict and later transferred to the United States Air Force and served in Vietnam during the Vietnam Conflict. He retired from the military after 20 years service in 1974, then worked for the State of Oregon in the Corrections Division for 18 years. Frank retried from the Santiam Correctional Facility as a Correctional Lieutenant in 1994. He enjoyed the computer, internet, fishing and traveling.
 
Frank married Carlene Shaw Koch in 1980 and she preceded him in September of 2017.  Survivors include daughter Lori Papenfus, sons: Michael and Terry Papenfus, stepsons James Foster, Kurtis Koch, step-daughter: Julia Oliver, 8 step grandchildren and 8 step great grandchildren and brothers Bernard and Gary Papenfus.
 
Graveside services will be at 1:00 PM on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at Belcrest Memorial Park. Assisting the family is Virgil T. Golden Funeral Service.

I met Frank in the last months of his life.  I am the ombudsman for Bonaventure at Keizer Station.  I had many long talks with Frank and enjoyed his company immensely.  Safe home, Frank. 



I am frank papenfus ex wife we married in 1968 we shared 10 yrs together he was a wonderful man cared about everyone I miss talking to him and carlene since she passed away She was a lovely person I enjoyed talking with them both my condolences to him and his family he was loved. By my side of the family also I will miss him prayer goes out to the family
