Wanda Sonora Patterson
March 30, 1937 - January 21, 2018
Wanda was the first child born to Leon and Rebecca Patterson of Red Boiling Springs Tennessee. The effects of the Great Depression moved her father to seek work wherever possible. The family traveled cross country eventually relocating to Yakima Wash. and settled in Dallas OR for a period of time. It was there she met and married her first husband, Don Lute. Wanda and Don lived in Bay City Oregon and had 3 sons. In time she married Rex White of Tillamook, OR. Wanda and Rex raised another son and two daughters while living in Oregon, Colorado and Indiana.
Wanda never forgot her southern roots and considered herself a native of Tennessee. She pursued her college degree late in life and graduated from George Fox College, with honors, eventually retiring from the State of Oregon in the year 2000 where she worked as a counselor. Among her many loves were her cherished pets. Her pug “Bo” was her constant companion through much of her retirement.
She is survived by her six children; Scott Lute (Kelle), Dan Lute (Debby) and Tim Lute (Kellie) all of Salem. Her son, Pat White of Vancouver WA, and her two daughters Teri White and Kitty Johnson (Dan) of Keizer OR. She is also survived by her brother Tom Patterson (Penny), Wanda’s younger sister Penny Sue Patterson, 14 Grandchildren, and 32 Great Grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Marian Estates of Sublimity Oregon for their exemplary care of Wanda in the twilight of her life. You are greatly appreciated.
A private celebration of Wanda’s life is planned for her extended family.
