Karen "Koko" Chapman

October 10, 1953 - November 10, 2017


Karen “KoKo” Chapman was born in Salem, Oregon in October 1953 and was the youngest daughter of Filomeno and Mary Ann Apilado.  Koko was diagnosed with Cancer in 2013 and fought a brave fight and remained positive throughout the entire journey.  She passed peacefully on November 10th at Salem Hospital with her family by her side.  She was smiling and loving everyone around her until the very end.   
KoKo lived in the Salem area her entire life.  She attended elementary school in the Lake Labish area, graduated from McNary High School and attended a local business college.  KoKo retired from the Oregon Department of Transportation.  She volunteered as a Special Olympics coach for 18 years and is adored by her many athletes and friends. 
Koko had a very close bond with her children Melissa Chapman, Teila Chapman, Jaime Becker, Lisa Tidrick and Jesse Chapman and grandchildren.  Her 9 grandsons and 1 granddaughter were her entire heart and she spent every day supporting, loving, understanding and praying for each of them. 
KoKo joins her angel grandson Kaden, her beloved Sister JoAnn, her little brother Mikey and her parents.  KoKo had a special bond with her Sister the date of KoKo's service is the anniversary of JoJos passing – the Sisters did everything together.

            5-7 PM  Viewing at Virgil T. Golden Funeral Service, 605 Commercial St SE
            7 PM Rosary to follow viewing
 
                                                                      Friday November 17th
           11 AM  Mass at St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church, 1010 Columbia St NE 
           Reception downstairs following Mass for a light lunch & refreshments

Many years I have known Koko and family. I'm very grateful to have known such a awesome family, she treated me and my very own children like grandkids even though we have no blood relation. We all love you and miss you Koko, thank you for being there for all of us through thick and thin. Rest in peace grandma, one day we will see you again! Blessings to KoKo & JoJo too... may they be frolicking together on the Heavenly Side, along with all their loved ones!  I will wait my turn to be with them.  But will miss them and all the good times we had together!!!  Beyond Great Memories~  much LOVE to all their BELOVED FAMILY & FRIENDS ~~ 



I will miss koko so much she was a sweet special spirit who was so fubby abd supportive whenever i needed a friend or a friend to talk to. Rio my sweet friend. I will always remember your anime and love you showed everyone...

Koko was a dear friend to me. She was always there for me and my children for over 27 years. She helped me though some of my worst days and celebrated the best. We always picked up wherever we left off and she will be truly missed. Rest in Peace my beautiful friend I will always love you and cherish our many memories.
