Pedro Orlando Aguero

February 22, 1920 - November 5, 2017

Pedro Orlando Aguero was born in Havana, Cuba on February 22, 1920 to a hard working family where he learned many trades, one of the earliest being horse drawn carriage ice block delivery in the days before refrigerators.  Educating himself as an English instructor in Cuba, he then became a bookkeeper before departing for Miami to be a diamond cutter.  It was during his time in Florida where he met and married his surviving love, Gilda, whom he was married to for 57 years.  He did many jobs, working his way across the United States with stops in New York and California before finally settling in Oregon.  He spent his final decades impacting people while  working custodial services in various public schools, and most importantly Tierra Rose Assisted Living Community where he joyfully served for over 19 years.  Less important than his actual jobs, was the dramatically powerful and loving impact he had on those around him.  While a true intellectual and renaissance man with interests including Salsa dancing, mathematics and singing, he was particularly skilled in the art of poetry.  As beautiful as the words of his poetry were, more amazing was his ability to befriend the hurting and lonely while joyfully comforting those that weep.  His amazing and infectious joy will be missed by all who were impacted by his emotional touch.  He was liberated from the constraints of time at 2:21 am on Sunday, November 5th to be with the Lord his Savior.   He is survived by his beloved wife Gilda, his sister Marta and two sons Orlando and Randy.  He will be tremendously missed by all those who knew him.
A Celebration of life will be held Saturday, November 11th at 10:00am at Virgil T. Golden Funeral Service.
