Lee C. McClelland

Salem – Lee C. McClelland passed away October 3, 2017 in Salem. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1:00 PM on October 12, 2017 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church with Father Timothy Mockaitis presiding. Interment will be at Belcrest Memorial Park.
Lee was born July 9, 1929 in Omaha, Nebraska to Elmer E.E. McClelland and Ruth (Tuttle) McClelland. He married Carolyn Reif on June 20, 1964 in Portland at St. Michael Catholic Church.
Lee graduated from the University of Oregon with a Bachelor’s degree in sociology. He was employed with the State of Oregon for thirty years, retiring as Chief Hearings Officer for Adult and Family Services, formerly Welfare Commission. He enjoyed listening to classical music, reading, and genealogy. He ushered at Queen of Peace Parish and was a member of the Happy 39ers.
Lee was involved in the Scouting movement for twenty years. He received the St. George emblem as recognition for service to the spiritual development of Catholic Youth in the Boy Scouts of America.
He was preceded in death by his parents and half-brother Stephen McClelland. Survivors are his wife Carolyn, children: Michael (Georgette) and Joseph; grandchildren Adam, Gabrielle, Caitlin, and Emily and one great granddaughter; brothers Paul and William D. “Mac” (Ann).
