Allen F. Ehle

Allen Fred Ehle, 87, died peacefully on September 30, 2017 in Salem, OR. Allen was the younger of two boys born to Harold P. Ehle and Martie Friedland on September 20, 1930 in Elmhurt, Illinois. Allen attended Waukegan High School and he liked to point out that Jack Benny was from Waukegan, Illinois.
Allen attended North Central University for a semester before transferring to the University of Illinois at Champagne-Urbana for two years. He enlisted in the Air Force during the Korean War and was stationed in Germany. He studied Russian at the Monterey Army Language School in Monterey, California, and while in the service he interpreted Russian broadcasts from pilot to ground and ground to pilot. He was honorably discharged as a language specialist.
After the service, he worked briefly in Washington D.C. and then as an insurance adjuster in Chicago. He moved to California where he attended Hastings Law School in San Francisco and passed the bar in 1966. He worked for the District Attorney’s Office in Mendocino County before he established his own private practice. He lived in Santa Rosa before he retired and moved to Salem, Oregon.
He had no children but is survived by his nieces Joan Melia who resides in Irvine, California, and Jacqueline Ehle who lives in Little River, California.
