Clifton "Bud" Barnes
April 29, 1927 - September 8, 2017
Clifton, "Bud" Barnes left this world and went to Heaven on September 8th at the age of 90. Bud lived a full and rewarding life, accomplishing much during his 90 years. For those who knew him, it was the simple example he set of being a wonderful person that stood out the most. Bud never complained, even while enduring significant pain the last few years of his life. His cheerfulness, wonderful sense of humor, and smile never faded. He was generous, freely sharing himself and his resources with others. Bud was quick to put others in front of himself, doing what he could to help people when he could. Bud was a man of faith who let his faith steer his life. Acceptance and forgiveness were cornerstones of his life. His behavior set an example that shaped and guided his family. We will greatly miss the leadership he gave to his family. Bud was loved by his family as much as he loved us.
Bud was born and lived most of his life in Salem. He was a veteran of the Army and Air Force, serving in both Japan and the Philippines. He eventually went to work for the Employment Department and worked there for over 30 years. He married Sanda "Alice" Karcha and they had two sons, Doug and Curt. He was proceeded in death by both Alice and Doug. He is survived by Curt and his wife Sue, their two children Molly and Robert. Molly and her husband Aaron gave him a great granddaughter, Ophelia.
