David Allen Hanson

August 28, 1943 - August 9, 2017

Husband, father, grandfather, businessman and car enthusiast:  David, is survived by his wife of 53 years Kay Hanson; daughters Tangee Holub and Genelle Holub, Tim Holub (son in law); granddaughters Chenielle, Kandyce, Shyanne and grandson Hayden; sister Mary Andersen, Doug  (brother in law), sister Patty Clark, Gary  (brother in law) and brother Bryce Hanson.   He is preceded in death by his parents Ken and Violet Hanson.

David was born in Forest City, Iowa then moved to Salem in 1946.  David was a hard worker and learned the value of the dollar 15 years young by working a paper route to buy his Mom her dream dinner plates and his first car (a black '56 Chevy) which soon led Dave to the purchase of many cars!  He and Kay were involved in many car events and belonged to Willamette Valley Corvette Club where he formed many lifelong friendships.

David met Kay after high school and married in May of 1964. David successfully co-owned 3-way Portable Crushing with business partner Wendell Lux for 40 years.  David retired 7 years ago and enjoyed many vacations with his family.

David was very generous in many ways but his "time" with his Grandchildren was the most precious of all!  David lived with "no regrets". Time was the gift he gave his Grandchildren as watching his them "grow into young adults" is his true legacy.

“The only thing better than having you for a Dad is our children having you for a Grandpa.”

Services for David will be on Saturday August 19th at 12:00 noon at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 1998 Lansing Ave. NE Salem, Oregon.
