Helen Mary Stinnett
September 9, 1923 - July 30, 2017
Helen Mary Stinnett, 93, of Keizer passed into the loving arms of God on Sunday.
Born and raised in Wilsonville, Ill., she graduated high school and eventually went to work for United Airlines. Her job took her to Denver, CO., where she met the love of her life Rudy Stinnett. They married April 14, 1950 and eventually set down roots in Keizer, OR.
Being a devout member of St. Vincent’s Catholic Church, she found strength in her religion and pride as a member of the Catholic Daughters Association. She took great pleasure in gardening and canning her bounty. Helen loved music and took banjo classes at a young age, eventually teaching herself guitar. It was her love of music that led her to teach others. She enjoyed trips to many cities throughout the US and countries abroad. Everyone would agree that Helen loved life.
Helen is survived by sons Russell, Raymond (Melanie), and Robert (Sherri), grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be 1 pm to 8 pm Friday, August 4, 2017 at Virgil T. Golden Funeral Home. A memorial service to celebrate Helen’s life will be held at St. Vincent’s Catholic Church on Friday August 11, 2017 at 11 am, with Rosary at 10:30am. Reception to follow service at St. Vincents.
In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to St. Vincent’s Catholic Church, 1010 Columbia St. NE, Salem, OR.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Avamere Assisted Living for the great care provided to Helen while a resident.
