Maria Elena Rodriguez

December 28, 1937 - July 12, 2017

Maria Elena Rodriguez passed away peacefully in Mt. Angel, Oregon on July 12, 2017 at the age of 79. She was born to Guadalupe and Petra Hernandez on December 28, 1937 as the eldest of 9 children in her family.

In May of 1957, Maria Hernandez married Jesus Rodriguez at Sacred Heart Church in Crystal City Texas. Five years later in 1962, Jesus and Maria relocated with their family to Salem, OR.  Throughout her adult life, she was a proud and dedicated mother of 6 boys and is remembered by them as strong in every sense of the word, even through battling rheumatoid arthritis. Her strong faith and commitment to her family was reflected daily. The family finds solace in the fact that today Maria feels no pain, and that she has been reunited with her husband Jesus.

Maria is survived by her sons; Orlando, Hector, Jesus, Ricardo, Oscar & Lorenzo, 11 Grandchildren, 18 Great Grandchildren and 8 brothers & sisters.

There will be a viewing from 5:00 – 7:30 pm, Monday, July 17th at Virgil T. Golden Funeral Service with Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6:00 pm.  A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 am, Tuesday, July 18th at St. Edward’s Catholic Church 5303 River Road N. Keizer followed by a Reception at the home of Lorenzo and Kerrie Rodriguez.

She lived by her faith. May she rest in peace.
