John Joseph "Jack" Greek

John Joseph “Jack” Greek passed away peacefully on July 11, 2017 at his home in Jefferson, Oregon. He was 89 years old. John was born in 1928 in Butte, Montana to Louise and Ivan Greek. He had one brother and two younger sisters. He served in the United States Navy in the South Pacific from 1946 to 1947. He began his career working in the mines in Butte, Montana. He worked as a partner in the Chef’s Construction Company, then moved to California and worked as an operating engineer for over 30 years. He was involved in creating some of the most beautiful and well-known dams, waterways and roadways in California.
Bakersfield, California was their home for over 40 years. He was a great father, grandfather and mentor. He was loved by all. John is survived by his daughters; Mary Lou and Jacqualine, his 2 sons John and David, 13 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, companion and mother of his children, Mary Lee Greek.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday July 15, 2017 at 4:00 P.M. at Belcrest Memorial Park Mausoleum, 1295 Browning Avenue, Salem, OR. A Rosary will be said Tuesday July 18, 2017 at 10:30 A.M. at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 4227 Lone Oak Road, Salem, OR., followed by a Memorial Mass at 11:00 A.M.
