Maxine Russom, 93, passed away on July 2, 2017 at Salem Hospital with her family at her side.
Maxine was born on Nov. 3, 1923 in Alliance, NE to Dick and Marjorie Colvin. She grew up on a farm and later on a golf course. She moved to Sheridan, WY where she graduated from high school. Eventually she moved to Boise, ID where she met and married her husband Fred Russom in 1944. They had a great 56 years together.
They lived a few years in Memphis, TN and then moved to Salem in 1948 where they raised their five children: Kathy, Kris. Rick, Teri and Lori. After raising her children, Maxine took a more active role in the family business - KC Drugstore in Keizer. She was the bookkeeper, pharmacy aide, and delivery driver.
Maxine loved to tell stories of her days on the farm and her travels around Nebraska and Wyoming. She had a special place in her heart for pigs. She enjoyed watching the hummingbirds and squirrels in her yard and always had plenty of pansies and tomatoes growing on her deck. She loved to rhyme and made the greatest thanksgiving dinners. She was part of the Salem YMCA for 45 years.
Maxine's daughter Kathy and her husband Fred preceded her in death.
Maxine is survived by her son, Rick Russom; daughters Kris Russom, Teri Russom-Hay Keith, and Lori Russom; granddaughter Alisha Hay, grandson Adam Strong; and one great granddaughter.
Private internment will be at Mt. Crest Abbey Mausoleum.
