Jerry R. Herring (Lucey)

June 21, 1935 - April 22, 2017

Salem – Jerry Herring, age 81, passed away April 22nd after a long and hard-fought battle with cancer. Jerry was born in McMinnville, Oregon in 1935. She met her husband John (Jack) Herring when she was 14, and he was 15 – They were together until her death. After graduating high school, she moved to Seattle while Jack was stationed in Korea with the Air Force. When he returned, and during Jack’s career with the military, they lived in a number of states including Mississippi, California, Texas, Ohio, Wyoming, Massachusetts, Virginia and finally home to Oregon. In Salem, Jerry worked as an office manager for many years. After retirement, she volunteered for a number of organizations including the Mission Mill Museum, Salem Hospital and St. Edward’s church. She and Jack enjoyed travel and visited several countries, returning to their favorite (the UK) several times. Jerry enjoyed cooking, entertaining, keeping physically active, live music, dancing, theater, and more than anything; being with friends and family. She is survived by her husband of 64 years Jack Herring, her son Paul and daughter-in-law Jean (Robertson-Herring) of Portland, daughter Michelle Herring of Salem and many relatives and friends. Rest in peace, Mom. We love you.
