Larry C. Blakley

Larry passed peacefully at home with his wife, Sheryl and Aunt Wiona by his side after a long battle with pancreatic/liver cancer. Larry was born in Salem to Clinton and LaVonne King Blakley. After high school, Larry enlisted in the United States Army, served in the Vietnam War from 1966 to 1969 as a door gunner with the 57th Assault Helicopter Unit and 119th Helicopter Unit. He was awarded 8 medals including the Purple Heart. After serving his country, he received his Associate’s Degree in auto body painting.
The loves of Larry’s life were his adoring wife, his family and his cats. His hobbies included the Portland Trail Blazers, shooting pool, his motorhome, riding his Harley and listening to Ozzy.
Larry is survived by the love of his life, Sheryl Blakley Summers; daughter Cynthia Ben Roche; stepchildren Tiara Groll, Ralph Theresa Johnson, Khali Johnson and Natalie Weiler. Larry had 8 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter; brothers, Gaylon Amen, Jr., Ralph Glenna Blakley and a large extended family. He is also survived by his lifelong best friend John Louise Douglas.
Inurnment will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday February 14th at Belcrest Memorial Park in Salem. The family would like to extend a special “Thank you” to Serenity Hospice, especially Lori, his nurse for the loving care she provided to Larry over the past few weeks.
