Kenneth R. McKibben

August 2, 1940 - November 15, 2016





Kenneth Ree McKibben passed peacefully in his sleep on November 15, 2016 at the age of 76.  Kenneth was Born August 2, 1940 to Harry and Valette McKibben in Eugene, Oregon.  The family moved to Salem, Oregon where Ken was raised, attended school and started a business.
 
Ken graduated from North Salem High School in 1958.  He attended OCE in Monmouth, receiving a degree in Social Sciences.
 
In 1961, Ken entered the Oregon National Guard and was stationed at Ft. Eustis, VA for 6 months.  After being honorably discharged in 1965, Ken and his brother, Jim McKibben started Glass Specialties, Inc.  A Commercial and Residential glass operation.  The business prospered for 36 years.  The two also formed McKibben Brothers, LLC, a property owner business operation.  Ken and Jim sold this business in October, 2015.
 
Ken married his wife Maxine Manor in May, 1996.  He designed and built their home where they have resided since May, 2001.
 
Ken is survived by his loving wife Maxi; son, Shane McKibben; five step-children, Larry Fredette, Kim Hulett, Ed Kuenzi, Lonnie Kuenzi and Tim Kuenzi; his brother, Jim McKibben; 6 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
 
Ken was a member of the Keizer ELKS, loved deep sea fishing, golf, and playing cards with his lifelong friend.  He and wife Maxi loved traveling to the Hawaiian Islands and especially dancing.  And oh, how he loved to dance!  Ken loved life and was always quick with a joke and a smile.  He will be greatly missed by his family and many wonderful friends.
 
A Celebration of Ken’s Life will be 3:00pm Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at McNary Restaurant (165 McNary Estates Drive, Keizer).  Please come prepared to laugh and share stories about ken.  He always loved a good party!
