Leonard E. Kunzman
January 7, 1925 - October 12, 2016
Leonard was born and raised on a dairy farm in Oregon City. In 1944, he married the love of his life, Floralee Eggimann. Shortly after marrying Floralee he left for WWII to serve as a first sergeant in the 32nd Red Arrow Infantry Division and was awarded a purple heart. Leonard’s occupational accomplishments include State Advisor and FFA instructor, State Director of Career and Vocational Education of Oregon, Superintendent of Public Instruction for the Department of Education, Vice President of the Oregon Farm Bureau, President of the National Association of State Agricultural Department and appointed by two governors as Oregon Director of Agriculture for twelve years. In addition to these accomplishments, he took pride in having his own farm. He was a true farmer at heart! More importantly, Leonard always made time to love and support his family. Survivors include his wife Floralee of 72 years, daughters Linda Freshour (Lynn), Kathy Bond (Don), Joy Patinella (Lenny), seven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Crater High School FFA (Central Point), OR or Home of the Brave at homelessvets.org. Viewing will take place on Thursday, Oct 20th from 9am to 9pm at Virgil T. Golden Funeral Service. A memorial service will be held on Friday, Oct. 21st at 10am at Emerald Pointe Senior Living Community in Keizer. Graveside Services will be 2:00pm Friday, Oct. 21st at Mountain View Cemetery in Oregon City.
