Fernando Esguerra Reyes

Fernando Esguerra Reyes, 79, of Salem died July 25 from complications of Alzheimer’s.
Born in Bogota, Columbia, in 1937 to Guillermo Esguerra and Maria Luisa Reyes, Fernando and family moved to the United States in 1961. After some turbulent times, he married Alyce Marie Hahn and merged families to have a wonderful, loving family of eight. He worked in the restaurant industry most of his career and also helped run an adult foster care home for the elderly.
His favorite hobbies were golfing and playing the harmonica. He served in the Columbian Merchant Marine.
Fernando is survived by his wife, Alyce Marie Esguerra; sons Larry Stauth, Rodney Stauth and Fernando A. Esguerra; daughters Jolene Huffman, Judy Playford and Eugenia Cox; brothers Guillermo Esguerra, Fabio Esguerra, Gonzalo Esguerra, Eduardor Esguerra and Ernesto Esguerra; sisters Carlota Scales and Myrian Wills; eight grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Recitation of the Rosary will be 9:30am Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church (corner of Friendship and Lone Oak in Salem) followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am. Fernando will be interred 2:00pm August 2nd at the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Tillamook.
