John Lambert Feskens
March 27, 1970 - December 18, 2015
John Lambert Feskens, 45, business owner/engineer and family man, passed away Friday, December 18, 2015 at his home. John was born in Medford, Oregon in 1970. At an early age, John learned to enjoy fishing, an interest he shared with his mom. As he matured, John developed a shared passion with his dad of working on automobile engines, especially his dad's 1966 Ford Mustang. John usually sought to get as much power out of whatever engine he worked on. His enthusiasm of mechanics led him to pursue an engineering degree at Oregon State University after graduating from South Medford High School in 1988. John earned a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, and later added a Civil Engineering degree and Professional Engineer license with certification in several states. He and two fellow engineers, Nicholas Jasper and Brian Kimball, subsequently aligned their talents in 1998 to form Alliance Engineering, a business in Salem, Oregon that specializes in the design of post frame buildings, both residential and commercial. Since January of this year, John was the sole proprietor of Alliance Engineering, which made him extraordinarily proud.
John's love of fishing and powerful engines remained strong throughout his life, and recently culminated in the purchase of a custom-built 28 foot fishing boat, which he and his wife Shannon affectionately named ACE in honor of their three beautiful children, Allie, Carlie, and Ethan. Of course John insisted that the boat manufacturer install two outboard engines more powerful than they were comfortable with mounting on the boat, but John informed them of his engineering background and willingness to not only provide calculations proving the boat could withstand the weight and horsepower, but also release them from any liability and ultimately got what he wanted.
John will forever be remembered as a kind, hard-working and respected business owner/engineer, and a soft-spoken yet dedicated family man who deeply loved his wife and children. He was preceded in death by his father, Cornelius (Cork), and is survived by his mother, Diane; sister, Wendy (Pat); wife, Shannon; children, Allie, Ethan and Carlie; niece, Krista; nephew, Colin; and niece, Makenna.
A celebration of life service will be held on Wednesday, December 30th at 3:00pm at Peoples Church, 4500 Lancaster Dr. NE, Salem, OR 97305. In lieu of flowers, well-wishers are encouraged to donate to the Oregon Chapter of the American Fisheries Society (www.orafs.org) or the Crisis Chaplaincy Services (www.ccschaplain.com). Assisting the family is Virgil T. Golden Funeral Service.
