Shirley G. Clark

September 4, 1928 - November 30, 2015

Shirley G. Clark 87, passed away November 30th at the Grace Center of Willamette Lutheran Retirement Community in Keizer, Oregon.   She was born to Oscar and Myrtle Liudahl of Valhalla Township, North Dakota. The family moved to Salem, Oregon in 1937.  Shirley graduated from Salem High School and attended Midland College in Fremont, Nebraska.  In 1969 she received a Bachelor of Arts in Education degree from Eastern Washington State College in Cheney, Washington. 
While at Midland, Shirley met and married Weston W. LaMunyon of Rising City, Nebraska. Wes died in Spokane in 1982.  In 1992, she married her high school sweetheart Donald Clark of Silverton, Oregon.  They remained together until his death in 2014. 
She had many passions and hobbies including teaching young children in Eugene and Spokane, diverse writing projects, and  many arts projects.  Throughout her life she was an active participant in the Lutheran Church wherever she lived.
She was predeceased by her parents Oscar and Myrtle Liudahl, brother Donald Liudahl, husband Wes LaMunyon, husband Donald Clark, and daughter Joan Olendorf. She is survived by sister Donna Holmstedt, of Astoria, OR; sister-in-law Jane Liudahl of Salem, OR; sons Jim (Beth) LaMunyon, of Olympia, WA, and John (Cheri) LaMunyon of Sammamish, WA; stepdaughters Vicki (Dan) Lloyd, of San Jose, CA,  Sharon Clark, of Kirkland, WA; many grandchildren, greatgrandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Shirley's family wishes to thank all those who loved and cared for her during her time at the Grace Center. 
Memorial service will be held 12:00 noon, Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2015 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Silverton, Oregon.
Memorials may be designated to:  Immanuel Lutheran Church Youth Ministries,
303 Church Street, Silverton, Oregon 97381.  Assisting the family is Virgil T. Golden Funeral Service.

I've known Shirley since shortly after my daughter started dating her son, Jim.  I loved her very much.  I hadn't seen her much since she moved to Salem.  I'm sorry I won't be able to able to attend the funeral.  I never thought I'd outlive Shirley!
