Tellelyn Hoffman Peterson

June 16, 1939 - November 22, 2015

After a 26 year journey with breast cancer, Tellelyn Hoffman Peterson of Salem, Oregon, died on November 22nd, 2015 at the age of 76 at Capital Manor, Salem, OR.
Tellelyn was born near Helena, Montana on June 16th, 1939.  She was adopted by Martin G. Hoffman and Kathryn Easton Hoffman as an infant and lived at Fort Stevens, Oregon during WWII.  The family then moved to Lakewood, Washington where Tellelyn graduated from Clover Park High School and the University of Washington. She worked as a Child Welfare Social Worker in Seattle until she married Dr. Gordon Peterson and moved to Holloman Air Force Base in New Mexico.  After two years of service they moved to Salem in 1963.
Active in Young Life in high school and college; she had a profound love for and deep trust in the Lord.  She was a Bible study teacher and a retreat leader; as well as, a strong supporter of Salem Young Life, the Salem Leadership Foundation, Trinity Covenant Church and Mount Angel Abbey.  Tellelyn was a gracious loving wife and mother.  She created a beautiful home that focused on her family’s needs; a nurturing dwelling for both husband and children.  She spent many hours tending her gorgeous garden with her precious golden retriever, Lucy.  Friends and guests alike always felt welcomed and blessed.
Her children are Kirsten Anne Pribilsky Kevin of Batavia, IL; Sonya Marie Penner Roger of Seattle, WA; and Marni Kay Scofield Eric of Colorado Springs, CO.  Grandchildren are Stefan, Tanner, Ethan and Greta Pribilsky; Lacey, Audrey and Maureen Penner; and Hudson and Charlie Scofield.
A Memorial Service will be held at Trinity Covenant Church: 5020 Liberty Road South, Salem, OR 97302 on December 5th, 2015 at 11:00 AM.  A reception luncheon will be provided at the church after the services.  In lieu of flowers the family suggests offering donations to Salem Young Life or the Salem Leadership Foundation. The Peterson family wishes to express their sincere appreciation for the extraordinary care provided by her Salem physicians, Salem Hospital, Capital Manor Care and Willamette Valley Hospice.  Virgil T. Golden Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
