Donald Wayne Mickey was born in Turner, Oregon to parents John and Francine Mickey. He was a true outdoorsman.
Don graduated from Cascade Union High in 1955, before attending Oregon Technical Institute O.T.I. in Klamath Falls.
Don Loved fishing, hunting, gold mining, mushroom hunting and grew 10 acres of Dahlias in Aumsville and he was a great artist. He passed his love of the outdoors to his children and grandchildren, teaching them to hunt, fish and paint. For 30 years, Don worked for Layton Manufacturing as a company representative.
He was preceded in death by his parents John and Francine Mickey, and his brother Larry Mickey. Don is survived by Millie, his wife of 56 years; daughter Gerri Virgil Porterfield; son Scott Jannet Mickey; grandchildren Michelle Summers, Tyler Porterfield, Ben Amber Mickey, Nate Mickey, Patricia Mickey, Kami Mickey and brother Steve Mickey of Victorville, California.
A Memorial Service will be held 1:00pm Saturday, December 5, 2015 at Virgil T. Golden Funeral Chapel.
