Gregory Vincent Elvander
March 18, 1956 - December 9, 2020
Gregory V. Elvander, 64, passed away peacefully on December 9, 2020, at his residence following a long illness.
Greg was born on March 18th, 1956, at Mills Hospital, San Mateo Ca. to Captain Herbert Elvander of San Mateo Sheriff’s Department and Catherine M. Wren Elvander. Greg graduated from Serra High School in 1974 and later moved to San Francisco. Greg worked for Siltec Silicon and quickly began to rise in the ranks to production manager. In 1989 Greg moved with the company to Salem, Oregon. Siltec later became Sumco Corporation where Greg worked for over 20 years until retiring in 2002 with the position of Document Control Administrator.
Greg then moved to Milwaukie, Oregon, in 2003 where he enjoyed being active in his community. A life-long dog lover, Greg was a patron to the Oregon Humane Society in Salem. He was also a member of the Portland Wine Tasting Association (PWTA), a member of the Portland Art Museum, and a regular donor to The Foundation for AIDS Research (amfAR) among other charitable organizations.
In addition to his parents, Greg was predeceased by his eldest brother, Patrick Elvander. His surviving family includes his brothers Jerry Elvander and his wife Christine, their three children and six grandchildren; Matthew Elvander and his wife Diana, and their two sons, his cousin Sue Elvander and her family. He was beloved by many friends and neighbors in Oregon and California.
Due to Covid-19 concerns, no memorial is planned at this time. A memorial is under consideration for March 18th, 2021, conditions permitting.
