Georgeann Bartruff

June 5, 1931 - September 7, 2020

Georgeann  BartfuffGeorgeann  BartfuffGeorgeann Bartruff, 89, of Salem Oregon, passed away on September 7, 2020 after a struggle with Parkinson’s disease.

Georgeann was born on June 5, 1931 to Alva Clarence Burghart and Hazel Marie Spencer in Portland, Oregon. Her father worked for Pendleton Woolen Mills and her mother worked at Emanuel Hospital. Georgeann attended Immaculate Heart Catholic School and Jefferson High School.  Her mother passed away when Georgeann was 16. She then moved to Salem, where the family had many ties. She lived with her sister Patricia and was close to her aunts and friends in the Salem area.  She finished high school at Sacred Heart Academy, graduating in 1949. She later started working for the Oregon State Department of Revenue. She took a break to raise her children and then returned to work until her retirement in 1994.

Georgeann met Ronald Bartruff in Salem and they were married on Feb 11, 1956. They had two children, Kay Lynn and Kirk Patrick. The family lived in the Lake Labish area outside of Salem on a farm owned by Georgeann’s family and spent many happy years there. They moved into “town”, SE Salem, in 1968. Ronald and Georgeann resided there until 2018 when they moved into an assisted living apartment at Marian Estates in Sublimity, Oregon.

Georgeann was a kind and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Always watching over her family and attending to their welfare. She had a beautiful smile and a simple elegance. She was fun to be around and enjoyed outings and socializing with the family. In retirement, she and Ronald enjoyed taking their Camper to the Oregon Coast, gardening and attending their granddaughter’s events in Portland.
Georgeann was predeceased by her sister Patricia A. Burghart. Her surviving family members are daughter Kay Lynn (Bruce Southerland) Harris, granddaughter Camille Jean Harris and son Kirk Patrick (Shirley Kay) Bartruff.
Georgeann is interred next to Ronald at Willamette Cemetery in Portland, OR

She will be greatly missed.
