Ellyn E. Larsen

February 6, 1925 - April 10, 2021

On April 10, 2021, Ellyn Larsen, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, passed away peacefully at her home in Salem, Oregon, with her daughters by her side. She was born in Albert Lea, Minnesota on February 6, 1925, to Anton and Johanna Larsen. She lived a long and full life. She was an amazing, kind, gentle and loving person who lived life with great enthusiasm. She will be so missed by her family and friends. Her parents were Danish immigrants, and she grew up in Minnesota and Wisconsin with three brothers and two sisters. She was the last of them to leave this life. Believing that anything was possible, Ellyn attended the University of Kansas later in her life, while rearing her four children. She gained her degree and taught school for several years before ultimately going back and achieving a Masters Degree. She then became a school counselor until she retired. She was a champion golfer and a wonderful artist. She had a great desire to see the world and traveled extensively. She was an extraordinary person brave, humble, loving and optimistic. She lived a vivid and rewarding life. Her gentleness and creative artistry were widespread, from child rearing to sewing, teaching, baking and cooking, drawing and painting, and more. In addition to being a mother of four children, she engaged in a wide range of other activities and demonstrated her skill and understanding in each, from farming to teaching, to adventurous travel, to playing golf, which was her passion for most of her adult life. Her kindness, creativity and energy were inspiring. She added much to the lives of those in her family and circle of friends. She is survived by her four children, Sharon, Dennis, Judith and Michael, eight grandchildren (Janette, Adam, Hilary, Parker, Dane, Austin, Kristine, and Michele), eight great-grandchildren (Brynn, River, Malena, Paloma, Raphael, Felix, Corinne, and Roscoe), and two great-great-grandchildren (Odin and Orion). In accordance with her wishes, no funeral will be held. A celebration of her life will be held for family and friends later this year when everyone can be together again to honor her. Assisting the family is Virgil T. Golden Funeral Service.
