David Lowell Lantz

July 3, 1936 - February 10, 2018

The consistent desire in the life of David Lowell Lantz, was to be a good and faithful servant for the Lord Jesus Christ.  Born July 3, 1936 in Salem, Oregon, where he lived his entire life, David attended Englewood Elementary School, Parish Junior High School, and Salem High School.  A proud graduate of Oregon State University, he graduated in 1958.  He was an active member of Salem First Baptist Church from infancy to death and served in many capacities including as a Sunday school teacher, Building Contractor for the new wing and remodel in 1974, and as a Deacon.  He was an enthusiastic supporter of YoungLife in Salem and always had a desire for young people to know Christ.  His life’s professional work was through CA Lantz Construction Company where he proudly built many of Salem’s Capital and county buildings as well as schools, churches, and office buildings which still serve our community.  His love of Oregon was evident in his enjoyment of the great outdoors, camping, fishing, and hunting.  He loved adventuring throughout the world with his wife, Marcia, by his side.  He visited all seven continents of the world and enjoyed photography and woodworking.  Of his many outstanding characteristics, including integrity, loyalty, and an encouraging nature, it was his sense of humor that always shone through.  He passed into heaven on February 10, 2018.

He will be desperately missed by his beloved wife of nearly 59 years, Marcia, and his daughter, Deborah Lantz.  He has joined his son, Scott David Lantz, in heaven.  He is also survived by his brother Wallace Lantz, of Salem, Robyn Lantz Loper, niece, of Corvallis, Corbin Lantz, nephew, of Salem, Jeff Miller, nephew, of Atlanta, and Tami Miller Smith, niece, of Eugene.

A Memorial Service to celebrate his life will be held on February 21, 2018, 1:00 PM, at Salem First Baptist Church.  In lieu of flowers, contributions to honor his life can be made to Salem Area YoungLife and The Salem Leadership Foundation at his and the Family’s request.  Assisting the Family is Virgil T. Golden Funeral Service.
