Bina E. Marshello

December 19, 1931 - December 27, 2019

Bina E. Marshello was born December 19,1931 in Oregon City, Oregon and died December 27, 2019 in Salem, Oregon.  She was the daughter of Frank and Katie Erhardt, was the youngest of eight children, growing up in Portland.  She graduated from Benson Polytechnic in 1950 at a time when it was an all-girls school.

In 1951 she married the only love of her life, Don Marshello.  They were married for 49 years, adopting three children, Lisa, Joe and Tommy. 
Bina was preceded in death by her husband Don and her son Tommy.  She is survived by her daughter Lisa Oakley and son Joe Marshello; three grandchildren Sam, Max and Zach; two great-grandchildren Andi and Wyatt.

As newlyweds, they moved to New Jersey where they resided for five years before moving back to Oregon.  Bina and Don started their family in Portland before moving to Salem in 1960.  She was a homemaker raising three children, volunteered at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, making donuts on Sunday mornings and was a member of the Altar Society.

Don and Bina opened North’s Chuckwagon in 1969, sold the business in 1983 moving to Pahoa, Hawaii to enjoy their retirement.  Bina was actively involved in her church and volunteered many hours at the Hilo Hawaii food bank.

After Don’s passing in 2000, she moved back to Portland to be near family.  She lived with her sister Elsie before moving to Laurelhurst Village, where she resided for 14 years, her final move was back to Salem in 2016 to be closer to Lisa and Joe.
Bina loved her faith, family, friends, Hawaii and purple orchids.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Saint Edward Catholic Church, 5303 River Road North, Keizer, OR 97303 at 11:00 am, Saturday, January 25, 2020.  Celebration of Life reception will follow the mass at the Doubletree Hotel, 1590 Weston Court NE Salem, Oregon 97301 from 1:00-4:00 pm.  Assisting the family is Virgil T. Golden Funeral Service.
