Arta LaDonna Skorohodov

October 3, 1947 - October 20, 2019

Arta LaDonna SkorohodovArta LaDonna Skorohodov Cristler, of Salem Oregon went to be with Jesus on October 20, 2019 at the age of 72, after a long battle with Pancreatic Cancer. 

Ladonna was born on October 3, 1947 in New Orleans, LA to James and Dorothy Cristler. She attended Centennial High School in Pueblo CO. After graduating from high school, she dabbled in beauty school, lived in Panama and North Carolina before returning to Salem to be near her family.  LaDonna attended Chemekata Community College to begin her career working with youth.   

Through out LaDonna's career, she worked many areas focusing with youth in juvenile detention and Special Education.  For many years, LaDonna was a special education teacher who loved working with kids to help them with seeking employment and learning life skills.  Her overall goals were to ensure children were recognized for their achievements and to live a fulfilling life.

LaDonna's love and joy were her family, friends, nature and her faith in Jesus.  She was longtime member of Morning Star Church. Her favorite's were spending special moments with her grandchildren by spoiling them with sushi dates and ice cream outings. Going to the beach,  hiking  Silver Falls or the desert or driving to the Santiam River with her husband and children was always an adventure.  She also enjoyed bead working, wire wrapping, and creating unique pieces of jewelry. LaDonna could spend hours walking on the beach collecting agates and sea shells.  LaDonna was married to the love of her life of 44 years, Isak Skorohodov who was always there, until her last breath.  

Ladonna is survived by her husband Isak Skorohodov, her Sons; Steve Dikeman Sabrina of Salem Oregon,  Chris Dikeman of Tempe, AZ and her Daughters; Patricia Callaghan of Anchorage, AK  and Elena Spannaus Tony of Palm Desert, CA. She was blessed with 5 Grandchildren, Micah, Madden and Mason Dikeman and Collin Spannaus. Her sister, Cherie Holmdahl and brother Michael (Donna Jo) Cristler, and many friends and family. Ladonna is also survived by her beloved cat, Tabatha, who was a constant comfort to her during her illness.  She was preceded in death by:  her parents - James and Dorothy Cristler, her brother Jim Cristler and her granddaughter and special angel Taylen Dikeman. 

Visitation will be held at Virgil T. Golden Funeral Service at 605 Commercial St. SE, Salem Oregon on Wednesday October 23, 2019 from 1:00 - 7:00pm. A Celebration of Life will be at Morning Star Church, 4775 27th Ave SE, Salem, Oregon on Thursday, October 24, 2019 at 12:00pm, with a reception to follow.   

In lieu of flowers, we recommend a donation in Ladonna's name to Robert W Franze Cancer Center at Providence Hospital in Portland or Providence Medical Guest House.

My condolences for your loss. She was a blessing to all of us.

Prayers are with all of Ladonna’s family.  LaDonna and Isak were the best of neighbors  to us and our children during our 22 years there.  Eternal rest grant unto her, Lord, and  let Perpetual Light shine upon her.

She was a special lady who will be missed. She showed her faith and love of the Lord in everything she did.
